Pre Arrival Guide for International student
Your guide to a successful Arrival
Dear Student
The aim of this pre-arrival guide is to help you get a successful start at Lillebaelt Academy of Higher Professional Education. It contains important information for you in order to be well prepared for living in Denmark. Please read this guide before leaving. The aim of this pre-arrival guide is to help you get a successful arrival to Odense as well as a sucyour home country.
This is only a guideline and it is your responsibility to make sure that everything is prepared from your side in order to be ready to start on your course at the appointed starting date. You will of course still have many questions about your responsibilities during your stay in Denmark. You are always welcome to contact your lectures, the tutors or the secretariat at at Lillebaelt Academy of Higher Professional Education. We will help you with your questions.
We know that to some students it is a BIG step to travel to a foreign country to study. You have to prepare yourself together with family and friends on this challenge. Discuss what it will be like to be in charge of you own household in a foreign country. If you enter a Qualification Course there will also be some introduction to these issues, to assure a successful study career at Lillebaelt Academy of Higher Professional Education.
Please make clear to your financial support, what the monthly and annual costs are going to be for the whole study period. A part time job is not guarantied in Denmark and will NOT pay all your expenses and working a lot part time and studying at the same time is very hard.
Welcome to Lillebaelt Academy of Higher Professional Education

Preparing to leave home and family
Before leaving your home and your family, there are a lot of things you will need to arrange. To assist you with your preparations, we have made this checklist.
Things to do before leaving your home country
•
As a minimum you have to bring 1000 EURO in cash, so you may live in Odense at least one month until you may open a bank account here. If you have not banked an accommodation deposit you need to bring 2000 EURO.
•
Please make sure to book a flight in due time to arrive in Denmark before the starting date of your Qualification Course or AP/BSc programme. Do not arrive before your accommodation is available.
•
Please book a direct flight from your country to Copenhagen. If you do not fly direct there is a bigger risk of loosing your luggage!
•
Please make sure that the college knows when you arrive in Copenhagen for your airport pickup. It is strongly advisable to form travel groups with other students.
•
Please make an arrangement with your preferred local bank about from which account they need to transfer money to your Danish account, when you get one.
•
Your national Bank has Danish money. It is called “Kroner” or DKK. Please make a withdrawal of at least 1000DKK and bring with you for your first days in Odense.
